Thursday, February 12th - B Day

  • If you choose to read the book Ms. Christina recommends, you will be amazed at the vivid character descriptions. Direct quotations from the book include, “winding a strand of her long, dark hair around her finger, winding and unwinding it again and again, and another direct quote, “sat with his shoulders hunched, his eyes squeezed shut in concentration, and his hands clasped tightly together."

  • Ramadan begins February 17th, 2026.  If you need accommodations for praying or fasting, please go to the Wellness Center to set up passes for prayer space or lunch time passes to the counseling office.

  • Raider Way - Safe, Respectful, and Responsible

Wednesday, February 11th - A Day

  • Ms. Christina recommends a book whose author has been a teacher, editor, and technical writer. She is a garden enthusiast and loves dogs. She is also an ice skater, a bird watcher, a meditator, a house builder, a gardener, a piano player, and a gourmet vegetarian cook. This author wrote the book that has now sold over 4 million copies worldwide since 2003.

  • Middle School Swim and Dive starts on Monday, Feb 23rd. You need to be registered to participate. This is for 5-8th graders that did not swim with varsity this year. Questions, see Ms. McAlpin in the Media Center.

  • Great job to all of the HMS Band students at your performance last night. It is so fun to watch you play! 

  • An announcement to all 5th graders and 5th grade teachers, following these announcements - this is a reminder to join the google meet with Mr. Addyman.

Tuesday, February 10th - B Day

  • There will be a meeting tonight for those 7th and 8th grade girls interested in softball. The meeting is in the High School Lecture hall at 6pm today. Even if you are new to softball, come check it out!

  • Outdoor Club kids going on the snowshoeing trip today–meet in Mr. Shemon’s room right after school. Also, if you didn’t grab a permission slip for the ice fishing trip, see Kreuser or Shemon. Permission slips need to be returned by Friday! 

  • The book Ms. Christina recommends is the first in a four-part series.  It is recommended for students in grades 5-8. This engaging story can be categorized as science fiction, dystopian-themed, and adventure. It was adapted into a movie in the year 2008.

Monday, February 9th - A Day

  • Ms. Christina recommends a book where the two main characters race to decipher clues left by the city’s original builders to find a way out of the underground city before darkness consumes them.

  • There will be a quick HMS Outdoor Club meeting today in Mr. Shemon’s room to handout permission slips about upcoming ice fishing trips! Can’t make it? Stop by Kreuser or Shemon’s room to grab a slip.
